OPEN POSITIONS:
The Department
of Mathematics and Computer Science at Northern Michigan University
invites applications for a tenure-track position in Statistics at
the rank of Assistant Professor beginning
with the 2010–2011 academic year. The successful applicant must
possess a Ph.D. in Statistics prior to employment, be prepared to
contribute to the development of our actuarial science program, and
demonstrate the potential to become an outstanding teacher and an
active and independent scholar. Exceptional candidates in other
areas of the mathematical sciences may be considered if they submit
clear evidence of an unusually strong statistical background as well
as
an interest in teaching statistics and actuarial sciences courses.
Northern
Michigan University is a comprehensive institution of higher
education with 9,400 students located in the city of Marquette on
the shores of Lake Superior in Michigan’s beautiful Upper Peninsula.
Marquette is a community of approximately 20,000 and is the
cultural, medical, and governmental center of the Upper Peninsula.
The region offers unexcelled outdoor recreational opportunities in
all seasons, and a favorable cost of living. The University has a
faculty of 300 on a 350-acre campus and offers over 135 majors in
the academic programs of three undergraduate colleges and a College
of Graduate Studies. The NMU faculty is an AAUP bargaining unit.
